We are delighted to announce the appointment of Barry Teather as our new Director of Sport and Jason Shanahan as our new GPO (Games Promotion Officer) at St. Sylvester’s.
Barry brings great enthusiasm, experience, and a real collaborative approach to the role. A key part of Barry’s focus will be developing a coaching philosophy that supports growth, learning, and partnership between all our coaches and mentors. He is eager to introduce new ideas and fresh ways of working together, helping us continue to build a club where everyone feels valued.
Barry wants everyone to know his office in Broomfield is always open and he is looking forward to catching up with coaches, volunteers, parents, and players to listen, share, and exchange ideas.

Barry has already felt warmly welcomed by so many club leaders from juvenile to senior, ladies and men, across all codes. This support from the club’s wide community has been hugely appreciated and has helped Barry quickly settle in and connect with members throughout.
Jason is joining Syls as GPO, and he brings real energy for supporting Gaelic games through education and grassroots development. Jason will be collaborating with coaches, teams, and schools, aiming to inspire and nurture our next generation of players and club members. We look forward to Jason sharing weekly updates about his ongoing school and academy work. Jason will also lead our big push for the Halloween Camp this year and looks forward to seeing as many young faces there as possible.
A special shout out to Panner for all his support in getting them started. We are looking forward to the positive impact both Barry and Jason will have on our club. They are excited to work across Broomfield, Bridgefield, and the Castle, as well as closely with our local schools.
