Ladies Football
The ladies section boasts 954 registered players, including G4MO participants, supported by 264 ratified coaches—96 of whom are female—and 45 FLOs. The club fields 16 competitive teams across seven age categories. Notably, Syls achieved a No. 4 LGFA Competitive Ranking for 2024, following a No. 2 ranking in 2023, based on statistical analysis of A-team performances across U13 to Senior levels in Division 4 and above.
Female participation in sport is becoming the norm rather than the exception in Malahide as they show up in numbers to play Gaelic Games. It’s a key objective of the ladies section to retain and develop our female coaches for as long as possible. St. Sylvester's Development Officer has been developing and delivering Empowering Female Coaches workshops to promote and enable our female mentors.
In 2024 we witnessed the huge achievement of our senior team reaching the Dublin senior championship final as a single entity for the first time ever. Indeed only a point separated them from the eventual Dublin senior champions. If there was ever any doubt St. Sylvester’s are now firmly cemented as a force to be reckoned with in the Dublin top flight of ladies football. A critical success factor in maintaining the momentum built up over the last couple of years will be establishing a solid base of intermediate and junior adult ladies football to underpin the senior squad.
Our competitive juvenile teams are also very successful, particularly our U15s winning Dublin division 2 Feile and playing the final in the regional competition. Our minors also acquitted themselves with aplomb, winning the division 1 league title and the division 9 championship.
