Ladies Football

The ladies section boasts around 1000 registered players, including G4MO participants, supported by over 250 ratified coaches—almost 100 of whom are female—and 45 FLOs. The club fields 17 competitive teams across seven age categories. 

Notably, Syls achieved a No. 4 LGFA Competitive Ranking for 2024, following a No. 2 ranking in 2023, based on statistical analysis of A-team performances across U13 to Senior levels in Division 4 and above.

Female participation in sport is becoming the norm rather than the exception in Malahide as they show up in numbers to play Gaelic Games.  It’s a key objective of the ladies section to retain and develop our female coaches for as long as possible. Thirty of our coaches have achieved Level 1 standard. The St. Sylvester's LGFA Development Officer has been developing and delivering Empowering Female Coaches workshops to promote and enable our female mentors.  

In 2024 and 2025  we witnessed the huge achievement of our Senior Team  reaching the Dublin Senior  Championship Final  as a single entity. The Cup Final was won and League Final achieved in 2025.  If there was ever any doubt St. Sylvester’s are now firmly cemented as a force to be reckoned with in the top flight of Dublin ladies football.   A critical success factor in maintaining the momentum built up over the last couple of years will be establishing a solid base of intermediate and junior adult ladies football to underpin the senior squad.  

Our competitive juvenile teams are also very successful, particularly our U15s winning Dublin division 1 Feile, league and championship, and our U15 div 7 team also winning Feile this year. Our Minors worked hard and had a strong run to reach the Semi Final Minor A.

Syls proudly has several players representing Dublin across various age groups: U14 (1), U16 (5), U18 (1), U20 (2), and Senior (4).
