It’s been another action-packed Championship weekend for Syls, with teams across football and hurling battling hard and laying down markers as campaigns continue to unfold.

A hard-fought contest on a damp Saturday evening saw our Senior Men come out on top in Balgriffin, edging it 1-5 to 0-7 in a low-scoring battle against a determined opponent.

That win leaves them on 1 win and 1 loss, and sets up a massive final round in two weeks’ time to decide the outcome of Group 4.

Our Intermediate Men began their Championship campaign with a tricky away tie in Ballymun. Despite a solid showing and some well-worked scores, Syls were beaten 1-14 to 0-10.

Plenty of lessons to take forward as the group stage continues.

Earlier in the day, our U16 hurlers got their Championship off to a flying start with a superb win over Olaf’s in Malahide Castle — final score 6-8 to 2-13.

A brilliant performance from the group with plenty of attacking flair on show.

Today it’s over to our Junior Footballers, with all three adult teams opening their Championship campaigns.

And on Monday, our Minor Ladies Footballers begin their own Championship action — with both the Minor B and Minor C teams togging out. The Minor A fixture has been postponed to a later date (TBC).
