This weekend marked one of our busiest yet, with most juvenile teams finishing their final games — and plenty still in action into early July. While most juvenile games might be winding down, Syls certainly isn’t! There’s still adult league business to be handled, championship buzz building, and a major fundraiser campaign kicking off. It’s going to be a busy summer!
👧🧒 Juvenile Weekend Highlights
U8 Boys (2017) – Football
Final blitz day saw matches vs O’Tooles (away), and Fingallians and St Brigids (home). Sunshine and silky skills — a great day to round out the term. 🔵🟢
U8 Girls (2017) – Football - Sunday
The youngest Syls girls headed to Naomh Mearnóg in style — decked out in warpaint and full of cheer. We also welcomed Naomh Barróg to Broomfield — a great end-of-term celebration
U9 Boys (2015) – Hurling
Six terrific matches on the AWP against Castleknock and Cuala. Progress since February has been off the charts — top work by players and mentors alike.
U11 Boys (2014) – Football
Four teams took on O'Dwyers and Clanna Gael in Bridgefield. Big thanks to our Social Committee for the post-match treats — everyone went home buzzing.
U11 Girls (2014) – Football
Six teams faced Clontarf and Mearnógs with high energy and great skill. A strong finish to the half-season from a brilliant group.
U13 Boys Team 1 – Football
A super away win over Lucan — a great reward for the team's efforts so far this year.
U13 Boys – Hurling (Social)
The lads swapped boots for seats as they took in the Dublin hurlers in action at Croker — a cracking team day out in the sun.
Saturday Afternoon – LGFA 30-Year Celebration Day
A glorious afternoon of games, laughs and sunshine as Broomfield hosted the LGFA 30-Year Family Fun Day. The bounce was back in every step — thanks to all who helped organise a day to remember! 💙💚
🙌 Thank You To Our Mentors & Volunteers
To every coach, lead mentor, volunteer, and parent — a massive thank you. Your dedication fuels everything we do. Whether it’s cones at dawn or final whistle fist-bumps, you’ve helped create memories, develop skills, and build something truly special at Syls. The community spirit is stronger than ever — and that’s because of you 💙💚 Enjoy the summer break and hopefully we'll see some of your teams playing at half time in Broomfield during the summer ! ☀️

✨ And finally... Last but by no means least...
This week, we mark the end of an era as Padraig “Panner” McCarthy steps back from his role in the club after over 30 years of unwavering service.
Since 1993, Panner has been the beating heart of St Sylvester’s — coaching, organising, mentoring, and lifting spirits at every level of the club. From nursery to seniors, schools to summer camps, he’s done it all — always with humour, kindness and that unmistakable spark.
It’s particularly fitting that, during our 30-year celebration of Ladies Football, we recognise Panner’s role in its rise. He supported, encouraged and inspired generations of Syls girls, leaving behind a legacy not just of football, but of community.
While he’s stepping back from the day-to-day, he’s not going far — and for that, we’re very grateful.
Thank you, Panner — for everything. 💙💚
