Our three Junior Football teams were in Championship action over the weekend, producing high-scoring, hard-fought performances full of passion and pride. While results were mixed, the effort, teamwork, and Syls spirit on display was second to none.
In Group 4 of the Junior 2 AC Championship, Sylvesters’ third team put in a determined performance away to a strong St Jude’s side, falling 3-10 to 2-7. Two well-taken goals were a real highlight, reflecting attacking intent and sharp link play throughout. Although the scoreboard didn’t go our way, there were plenty of encouraging phases to build on — with the group’s work rate and cohesion clear to see from start to finish.
Meanwhile in the Junior 5 AC Championship Group 3, the fourth team treated supporters to a great contest in Broomfield, drawing 4-9 to 2-15 with Trinity Gaels. From clever movement to clinical finishing, the lads showed great awareness and confidence when chances came. A draw was a fair result in the end — and a real testament to the group’s growth, grit, and camaraderie.
In Group 4 of the Junior 6 North AC Championship, our fifth team were edged out in a tight contest against Beann Eadair, with the final score 4-13 to 3-12. Syls struck for three goals and kept pushing until the final whistle, showing real hunger and belief. While it wasn’t enough on the day, the performance was full of promise — a strong platform to drive forward into the next round.
A huge well done to all three panels and their mentors — it’s only Round 1, and there’s still plenty to play for as the Championship journey continues.
