September 22, 2025 1137 Views

The weekend once again showed the brilliant energy across our Juvenile section, with games right from the Academy up through to the older age groups.

Our Academy was in full swing with thanks to Charlie’s Childcare for providing brand new footballs and sliotars – plenty of future stars getting their first touches in Syls colours 🔵🟢.

The 2018 Boys took to the field for their very first hurling matches against Naomh Mearnóg. The boys showed fantastic skills and effort throughout – a great step on their journey before heading back to the training pitch for the next few weeks.

The 2017 Boys had a busy schedule with Pod 1 playing a mini blitz against St. Finian’s and St. Maur’s in River Valley, while Pod 3 hosted Raheny and Pod 2 welcomed Na Fianna. Plenty of “air hurling” and great skill on display all round. Our 2017 Girls also enjoyed the sunshine as they hosted Raheny Gaels and played Clontarf in St Anne’s Park – superb skills, effort and smiles all day.

The 2017 u-8 girls lapped up the sunshine this morning- hosting Raheny Gael’s and playing Clontarf in St Anne’s Park. Super skills, effort and smiles!

The 2016 Boys enjoyed a victorious day of hurling, with squads in action across Whitehall, Russell Park and Malahide Castle. Their counterparts, the 2016 Girls, played football both home and away – hosting O’Dwyers, St Brendan’s and Na Dubhgall and also travelling to St. Finians. The girls showed great grit and determination with some brilliant tackling and hard-fought battles – Syls Abú 💙💚.

The 2015 Boys faced St Brigid’s at home and Binn Eadair away in hurling, with excellent feedback from coaches on the effort and skills on show. The 2015 Girls hosted St Finians Swords and travelled to St Brigid’s for football. The girls displayed fantastic teamwork – soloing, hand passing, moving the ball quickly up the pitch and looking for scores. Most importantly, there was plenty of fun and enjoyment along the way 🤩.

2014 girls (58 of them!) travelled to Waterford to take part in two blitzes over the course of the weekend. First up was football on Saturday with matches vs Gailltír and Tramore, and Sunday morning saw us line up vs Gailltír and Mount Sion in camogie. Great matches all round. In between they swam in the pool, took part in a quiz, spent a lot of time going up and down in hotel lifts, and generally had a ball. Fantastic weekend for them.

The 2014 Boys welcomed Cabinteely to Bridgefield, where one supporter described their performance as “champagne hurling” – and the display fully lived up to that billing. Another squad took on St. Oliver Plunkett’s in St. Martin’s Park with another excellent performance to round off a top weekend.

2012 Girls
U13 Div 1 we’re unlucky and had a tough battle against a strong Ballinteer St John’s

u13 Div 7 had a super win against Templeogue

u13 Div 13 had a brilliant win against Lucan at home in the castle
Moving into the older juvenile groups, the 2012 Boys (Team 1) had a great win away to Cuala 🔵🟢.

The 2010 Girls had a superb weekend, with both teams in action. The A team travelled to Kilmacud, where after an evenly matched first half, they stepped it up to finish strongly and secure a well-deserved win. The B team made the trip to Skerries and produced a fantastic comeback – trailing by four points at half time before storming back to win 5-4 to 4-1. Two brilliant results showing the depth of talent in this age group.

The U16 A Footballers battled it out away to Templeogue Synge Street in Round 2 of the Championship and came away with a hard-earned draw after a fiercely competitive encounter.

Under 16 Div 8 girls won a hard fought game against Na Fianna in the championship campaign at the castle this afternoon. It was a tough first half with both teams evenly matched throughout, although Syls had a number of wides. Early in the second half Syls got two goals, and although both teams scored points later in the half, Syls remained on top with some excellent defending.

A brilliant weekend of action for all our juvenile teams – huge thanks to our coaches, parents and supporters who keep the show on the road each week.

Great pictures so keep them coming - getting difficult to pick a headline one from so many excellent shots but this week's goes to the 2017 boys !
