While some were off covered in glitter at Electric Picnic this weekend, the real festival spirit was alive in Broomfield, Shanganagh, and Olafs — and it came with sliotars flying, tackles thundering, and championship points on the line.
Hurling
Our Senior Hurlers continue their strong run, now with four wins from five. Away to Cuala in Shanganagh Park on Saturday, they held their nerve in a fiery finish to edge it by two points — Cuala 2-17 🔴 vs 2-19 🔵 St Sylvesters — keeping them second in the table with two games to go.
On Sunday morning, the Junior A Hurlers faced a do-or-die clash against Naomh Olaf. With quarter-final qualification at stake, they delivered in style, winning Naomh Olaf 0-13 vs 3-14 St Sylvesters in tough windy conditions, a victory built on hard graft and sharp hurling.
Looking ahead, our Junior B Hurlers, sitting third in the table, travel to O’Tooles on Tuesday evening for their final group game, aiming to secure a quarter-final spot.

Football
Back in Broomfield, the Minor A Footballers opened their championship with a dominant display against Naomh Barróg, winning St Sylvesters 5-13 vs 0-8 Naomh Barróg. Meanwhile, the Minor B Footballers were equally impressive, taking down Ballinteer St Johns with a composed performance — St Sylvesters 2-17 vs 2-10 Ballinteer St Johns. The Minor C Footballers had a bye in Round 1 but will join the action in two weeks’ time when Round 2 gets underway.
Ladies Football
And now it’s over to the Ladies Footballers for a huge midweek double header in Broomfield. On Wednesday evening, our Junior A Ladies throw in at 18:45 against Naomh Mearnóg, followed by the Senior Ladies at 20:00 against Fingallians. Two big championship games, both on home soil, so we’re calling all Syls supporters to turn up in numbers and make the difference.
So while Electric Picnic might have had the tunes and tents, Syls had the real show this weekend — and there’s only one headline act we care about: championship wins. 🔵🟢
