Minor B hurlers go to extra time to become Champions
December 03, 2023
Our Minor B hurlers faced a daunting task meeting Lucan away for the final of the D Championship today after a relatively easy passage through to the last stages of the competition. It was a tight game throughout with our lads chasing the home team’s lead until 4 mins from the end when a goal from Adam Rooney hit the net and put us a point ahead. An equaliser by the opponents led us into extra time. It went point for point until Lucan struck a goal in the 2nd half of ET but our lads dug even deeper showing their unbelievable never-say-die determination and fought back. A second goal, this time by Conor McGahan sealed the win with just a point.
Well done to both teams on a very sporting match despite the tight scores and the referee who kept a tight rein on proceedings.
It was a suitable prize for a squad that is supported so well by U16 boys who played their own champ final yesterday. Thankfully today’s result was a happier one.
Huge congrats go to the full team and coaches, Marc & Cian Whitney, Pat and Conor Hoyne. Minor D Champions 2023! Syls abú
