Reports on all Ladies and Girls teams
Dublin vs Mayo; Sun 16th August 2009. Nicole starred in the drawn game and again in the replay when Dublin produced an excellent battling display to overcome a resilient Mayo team at Kiltoom. Played in windy conditions both teams displayed some super football but it was the Dublin team that prevailed by the narrowest of margins on a score line of 3-12 to 3-11.
The ladies of St Sylvesters Naomh Marnóg finally defeated Ballyboden St Endas in the senior championship semi-final, stopping their march to a 10th successive title. Congratulations to Sinead Aherne, Niamh McEvoy, Sinead Tracy, Katie Slattery and all the girls . . . and, doesn't Angela look glum.
Hearty congratulations to Gary Sweeney on being awarded Dublin GAA player of the month for July 09. Ironically he pipped our own Sinead Aherne who also put in a fabulous display in the Ladies Final. Since he was a young lad Sweeney has displayed great skill and football intelligence and has an ability to carry the ball at speed while surveying the field around him, a skill possessed by the likes of the Gooch, Alan Brogan and Declan O'Sullivan.
Our Gaelic4Mothers team have been invited to play in Croke Park at half time on the day of the Ladies All Ireland Finals in Croke Park in an exhibition Game Sunday 27th September 2009. They will be supplied with special special new Club Jerseys for the day.
Sinead scored 2-3 and was named player of the game in the Leinster Final win over Kildare at Carlow - a happy stomping ground for Sylvesters players this weekend. Our roving reporter, Suzanne, was on hand to capture another memorable picture.
Three late goals at the end of the first half put paid to Dublin's chances in the All Ireland Under 14 Semi Final played in Toomevarra this afternoon with the Rebelletes overcoming the Jackies by 5-9 to 1-8. Syls were represented by Under 14 stalwarts Kim White and Emer Treacy and both girls put in solid performances.

As part of the Garda Vetting process, all mentors must complete attached forms and return them to the club in a sealed envelope with your name on it and also mark it for Norma Murphy's attention. The actual Garda Vetting Document must be completed on both sides on 1 page.
Fresh from league success on Friday the U14 girls pitted their wits against the U13 boys fresh from hurling success yesterday. The lads dominated the first half and ran up a tidy lead. The second half was a different story and the lasses laid siege to the boys goal, knocking up a decent score. And nobody complained that all 30 girls were on the field for the half. Very sporting, and Syls definitely won.
Following their heroic efforts in the Féile last weekend Eddie and Ann O’Mordha’s Under 14 Girls team got back to winning ways in the league with a superb win against Ballyboden in Broomfield this evening. Playing against the wind in the first half we trailed our visitors by 1-7 to 1-1 at the break. The girls came out in the second half and put in a spirited display to take some great scores and coupled with resolute tackling and defending and their never say die spirit, they edged out winners by a goal in the end.
Congratulations to our Under 14 Girls on winning the Feile Division 1 Group 2 played in Broomfield on Saturday. This was a great achievement by the girls to go unbeaten in the three matches. The performance against Clontarf was particularly noteworthy as they reversed a 7 point deficit at half time to a nine point victory at the end. This earned us a semi-final spot against Kilmacud Crokes over in Ballyboden on Sunday.

Hard luck to John and Niall Coughlan and to Collie McIntyre who played for DIT in the Sigerson Cup Final on Saturday, losing to Cork IT on their home ground. Sounds like Niall's thrusty left foot was in action again.
There was a great turnout of players and parents for the presentation of medals to our Under 13 Girls on winning the Division 1 Shield Final. Dubs stars including our own Sinead Aherne and Niamh McEvoy from Parnells assisted Eddie O'Mordha with the presentations.
