Minor A Boys Impress In First MFL1 Match v St Vincents
July 05, 2021
Sunday 4th July ‘21.
The new St Sylvester’s Minor boys panel debuted at home in an exciting and impressive display v St Vincents yesterday. The lads were raring to go from the starting whistle and the points started well from both sides. Vinnies went ahead at the start but a well-worked goal by Ryan McGlynn in the first 15 minutes drove the lead for the home side. An additional goal from McGlyn before the break gave the Syls boys a 2-06 to 0-06 lead at half time.
The beginning of the second half brought the Vincents lads back out fighting and kept pressure on to only allow the us 2 scores but a strong defense and the safe hands of Sean Downey in nets kept any chance of an opposition goal out. There was just 3 points in it at the 2nd water break but the steadying words by manager Derek Roche rallied the lads to drive home the win with additional points and another great goal before the final whistle
Final score;
St Sylvester’s 3-11
St Vincents 0-13
Scores; R mcGlynn 3-2, B Meehan 0-6, D O’Leary 0-1, C. Donnelly 0-1, Harry Smith 0-1
