AFL1 St Sylvesters A ten point win in a game where we showed a bit of drive and style with something close to a full selection available. Jockser was back in the middle with Ross, Shane, Gary and Beano were devestating at half forward with Collie, Scooby and Glen very effective at half back. Pity we let Ravens upset us late in the game where they made a little comeback, having been well out of it mid second half.

U16 D Championship Final St Sylvesters 3-10 Na Fianna 1-02 Great to go the Parnell Park and win. To be fair tioNa Fianna the score did not reflect an excellent competitive and sporting game where we simply took our scores and they didn't but in all other aspects it was a pretty even game. I hope John has a chance to send a full report. Congratulations to Brian Murray on a well deserved Man of the Mattch Award.

Syls U14s in Regional Feile's - Hurling and Football

Syls U14s in Regional Feile's - Hurling and Football

Great achievement for the U14 boys and their mentors, congratulations to all and hopefully we will have some support travel to support thme in the tournements. Just as a follow up to the recent Dublin Féile's in hurling & football, as you may be aware the GAA have amended the format of the national tournaments in recent years - really to try supress the win-at-all-costs approach that was manifesting itself - and while there remains a national Feile in both codes, it is the Dublin Division 3 champions who will represent Dublin this year in both codes in the main tournaments.

Danielle Lawless wins Leinster U16

Congrats to Syls' Danielle Lawless and the Dublin U-16 team who defeated near neighbours Meath in the Leinster final last weekend. Danielle has had a fine campaign with the U -16s this year. Dublin have now secured a sixth successive Leinster title at this level, no mean feat for this young squad and their management team.

Brave Syls fight to the end in Feile Final

Brave Syls fight to the end in Feile Final

Feile na nÓg Div1 Final Whitehall Colmcille 2-07 St Sylvesters 2-04 Lining out I thought we looked noticibly smaller than the opposition but we came out of the blocks quicklly and took an early 2-02 to 1-01 into a strong wind but ended the half down by a point. Although we had a wind in our backs in the second half, Whitehall seemed to build a wall across the middle and built up a five point lead before we came at them strongly in the last ten minutes. We hit two points, shaved the post a couple of times and were only thwarted by some brave defending by the Whitehall lads. Disappopinted of course but very proud of the way our team played in a very good sporting game. Ernie will send a proper report when he catches his breath.

Report from the Feile na nÓg

Report from the Feile na nÓg

What a weekend that was! Before a ball was thrown in on Saturday we knew we were winners with 66 young players, across 3 teams, representing the club in Feile Peil. While the spotlight falls on the A footballers, all 3 teams were competitive and carried themselves with dignity and honour. The A footballers were within a few millimetres of winning the clubs first Feile crown but it was not to be. A 10 minute spell either side of the break cost us and in the shortened matches of Feile it is difficult to pull back a lead.
