Syls U13 serve up exciting Final in Div 4 Cup

U13 Div 4 Cup Final St Sylvesters v Templeogue Synge St Venue:O’Tooles Gaa on Saturday 11 Nov at 12:00 The U13 St Sylvesters girls travelled to O’Tooles Gaa club on a pleasant but cold Saturday morning to play Templeogue Synge St in the U13 Division Cup Final. The St Sylvesters girls had moved up to division 4 for the Cup. Both teams were unbeaten in the cup. Both teams won their respective semi finals by small margins. A minutes silence was hald before the game in memory of the mother of the Dublin LGFA’s administraotr’s mother who had passed away .
The St Sylvesters  girls got off to the perfect start with a point from the start. This was short lived with Templeogue Synge St scoring 1-2 over the next 10 minutes in a pulsating game. Defences were on top and scores were difficult to come by. The St Sylvesters girls rose to the challenge with 1-1 to level the game with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. The bigger and stronger Templeogue girls conjured up four well taken points to lead by 5 with a minute remaining in the first half. A St Sylvesters free in the dying seconds of the half left the St Sylvesters girls trailing by two points at half time. St Sylvesters 2-2 Templeogue Synge St 1-7.
The pulsating nature of the first half continued in the second half. Again the St Sylvesters girls got of to a great start, a goal to take the lead. This was short lived when after a turnover while in attack, the Templeogue Synge Street girls scored a goal to retake the lead. The Syls girls rallied with  a point to make the difference just one point. The Templeogue Synge St defence put in a excellent performance to thwart the St Sylvesters attack. The templogue girls stretched the lead to 5 before Sylvesters responded with a great goal to put two between the sides.  
Shortly Templeogue Synge St were awarded a penalty, though well taken was stopped and cleared by Abby in goals. This was the fourth penalty  Abby has stoped in the Cup. An exchange of points followed. Though the St Sylvesters girls were on the front foot, they were unable to breach the Templeogue Synge St defence. 
With 5 minutes remaining, the Templeogue defence pulled off a remarkable block to deny a gaol. They raced up the pitch and scored a goal. Though the St Sylvesters girls continued to play with all their hearts, they were unable to breach the Tempelogue Synge St defence. Templeogue tagged on two more points which put an unfair gloss to the score. In a pulsating and exciting game, the Templeogue Synge St girls deserved the honours. The final score was St Sylvesters 4-4 Templogue Synge St 3-14.
The Cup and runners up medals were presented by Alan Egan on behalf of the county board. He considered both teams contributed to an sporting and exciting final. He wished both teams continued success in the years to come.
