Niamh and Nicole to bring huge honour to Syls in Parnell Park next Saturday

Niamh and Nicole to bring huge honour to Syls in Parnell Park next Saturday

The ladies match is now switched to starting time of 2.00 p.m. Just perfect , start in Parnell Park where our club girls are playing, and then saunter up to Croke Park for the Dublin v Mayo replay. The Jackies take on Armagh in the All Ireland semi-final in Parnell Park at 2.00pm. What an achievement for a medium size club to have two players on the county squad. Both started and had fine games in the quarter final victory against Monaghan. Lets support the girls in numbers. No long treck to Birr involved, just a short hop to Donnycarney. Let's make it an evenIng out for Syls and show our true club spirit. U16s free . Students and senior citizens €5 and adults €10.

Junior Hurlers lose to Whithall

JHC C SF Whitehall Colmciles 0-15 St Sylvesters 0-10 The game ran away from us in the end after we had led for quite a while but we ran out of scoring options in the last quarter as Whitehall kicked on.

SHC B QF St Oliver Plunkets Eoghan Ruadh 3-20 St Sylvesters 0-12 Well beaten in the end by a slicker looking Eoghan Ruadh (nice to see the old navy shirt, haven't seen that for a long time)

Inters win the Loving Cup

Inters win the Loving Cup

Loving Cup Final St Sylvesters 1-10 Naomh Olaf 1-07 A hard fought win continues the good run for the Inter footballers and brings, I think, the first silverwear of the season to Syls. There was a good mix of young and old in our side and this certainly gave u sthe experience to handle some robust tackling while also spreading out the playand winning going away.Great to see John Peacock back in action, Luke Troy continued in goal, Dave Galvin, also coming back from injury, had a good game in the middle while Paudie White, Mark Finnrty and Dylan Connolly caused lots of problems up front.

Congrats to Niamh McEvoy and Nicole Owens both of whom featured in the starting line up for Dublin against Ulster rivals Monaghan in Saturday's quarter final in Clones. Dublin had a strong lead by half time having notched up 1.07 to Monaghan's 0.4.

U10 & U11's Host MayoBridge of Co Down

Syls U10 & U11 Footballers hosted MayoBridge from County Down on Sunday. The boys played 3 games in Bridgefield then headed back to the new Syls clubhouse for refreshments. Many thanks to all the parents who baked cakes and made hang sandwiches for the visitors. Thanks to the parents and Syls bar staff for making tea and making our visitors so welcome.

Footballers win at Parnells

Footballers win at Parnells

AFL1 Parnells 1-06 St Sylvesters 0-17 Pretty comprehensive win over our local rivals almost pulls us clear of the danger zone. We fielded a fairly inexperienced team but still had plenty to spare even though Nells got back to four points mid second half with a goal and a few points. We kicked on with a string of points to win well in the end. Fair dues to the Parnells keeper who made three point blank saves from Jack, Niall and Paul to deny us a goal. Mark was again flawless from frees, Ronan, Shane and Ross ruled the middle, Aiden and Fionn marshalled a mostly steady backline.
