Golf Society News - May 2013

Latest News up-date from St Sylvesters Golf Society: Heritage Outing Sat 4th May: We had a very enjoyable outing to the Heritage Golf Club on Saturday for the Mick Morris Memorial trophy. With lovely weather the members that travelled produced some excellent golf and the winners were:

1st prize:                       Ciaran Reilly     33Pts

2nd prize                        Neil Reilly        32Pts (Back 9)

3rd prize                       Des Barnes       32Pts

Visitor’s prize:              Tony Kirby       35Pts

The Mick Morris Trophy and prizes will be presented at the Captains Dinner on the 6th Sept.

In order to further/secure the future of the Golf Society, we all need to encourage as many club members to join the society and participate in the outings.  Over the last few years we have had continued interest from some of our “YOUNG” past players in joining the Society. Unfortunately, their interest has been curtailed and they have been unable to participate as they wish because of clashes between our Saturday outings and their continued dedication to the future of St Sylvesters GAA club as mentors to various teams.

In an attempt to accommodate these club members, this year we have organized some Friday afternoon outings during the “SUMMER” months.

Upcoming events:

Friday 7th June: Swords Open. This is the first of the Friday afternoon tee-times {14:00 to 15:00} and is also a 4-man team event, so get your team ready and packed.

Cost per person is €15 with a reduced rate for Swords Open Club members. Time sheet will be posted in GAA Club shortly.

Friday 21st June: Presidents Prize. Terry Roche will be hosting his first Presidents Prize outing in Malahide Golf Club. Details of course to be played and prize-giving will be posted as soon as they are confirmed.

Friday 28th June:  The annual Malahide Sporting Club Golf Challenge Competition with 6 different Malahide sporting clubs taking part.  12 players will represent each club and if you are available on the day and would like to be considered for the St Syls Golf Society team please drop us a note to our e-mail address or contact any committee member by 31st May.

Details of the format, h/caps and rules will be posted as soon as they are confirmed by the organizing committee.

Yours sincerely
