St Sylvesters Website - sorry lads, I cannot do it anymore

For personal reasons I am forced to resign as PRO of St Sylvesters and I must also pull back from maintaining the website which I have been doing since 2004. Anyone who has any interest in getting involved please contact Paddy at or Fergal at This is not a technical role, it is much more about story telling with words and pictures and could suit a group of people looking after football, hurling, ladies, ccc1, academy, ccc2, social, sponsors. I'll leave it with you but I hope someone steps forward as the web is a very important communications medium for the club and the local newspapers also rely quite heavily on the site being up to date.

Mel, very sorry to hear you are pulling back from this role, but understand your reasons perfectly. Your meticulous attention to all things Syls and the wider GAA community has been a credit to you, always on the button with up to the minute news and information. Has to be one of the best GAA club websites in the country. Maith an fear!!!!!

Many thanks Mel for all the years of service and the great work you have done with the website. It is a great resource for members to keep in touch with developments in the club and a great archive of all the activities and the great days enjoyed in the club since you began. Your vibrant match reports and photos have been magnificent with your own personal style and love of the games shining through all your contributions and enjoyed by all. Míle buíochas

Many thanks Mel for your constant support and coverage of the ladies games. You enhanced the profile of the ladies section in the club and your presence at games was always appreciated. Your insightful and pithy reports and your unfailing courtesy were much appreciated by everybody in the ladies section. Angela Aherne

Well done Mel. You have done such a huge service to our children and to our community, and we are very much in your debt. Thanks for all you did, and the pleasant, friendly and professional manner in which you did it. We are lucky to have had your help for so long, and you should be proud of your contribution

Mel only seeing this now. What a job you have done over the years, what a legacy. As well as up to date, informative and personalised with a knowledgeable but not over-bearing style, I've always been struck by the fair-mindedness of the content - it's not a Syls only view of the world - we don't always deserve to win nor do we always play the besr football or hurling - fantastic lesson in how to treat those twin imposters of victory and defeat . Whoevers come in has a brilliant template with which to work. The club and the members owe a debt of gratitiude
