Know your Sport 2017 Prediction Competition Fundraiser

Just by way of update. Firstly thanks to all of you for your efforts in getting the Know Your Sports entries sold. Many thanks to all those who have supported our juvenile teams – both boys & girls – by entering our Know Your Sport prediction competition this year. Your support for the fundraising efforts of our teams in this regard is hugely appreciated by all teams.

I would like at this stage too to acknowledge again the support of Ciaran Reilly of Custodian Consultancy, and our U10’s, who again this year sponsored the design and printing of the entry forms – many thanks to Ciaran for sharing his expertise and resources with us in this respect.

With regard to everyone’s predictions, well despite England winning the 6 Nations with a game to spare, they, perhaps surprisingly, were not the most popular prediction – that ‘honour’ falls to Chelsea whom 88% of entrants predicted will win the Premiership. The next most popular selection is Dublin to retain Sam (87%) and only then comes England to win Six Nations at 78% of entries with Tipperary to win Munster hurling title at 77%.

The least popular – well if Chelsea were to collapse at this stage, just one entrant amongst the whole field reckons Tottenham will be the team to take advantage. (Aren’t the seven Arsenal supporters very optimistic all the same???

Of course since the closing date for entries, the first two sporting competitions on the list, the Rugby 6 Nations and Cheltenham Gold Cup in horse racing, have concluded. And after these first two events, we have a grand total of 81 players (with 10 points each) sharing the lead!! I think you’ll forgive us for not listing all the leaders at this stage then!

The next event up is the US Masters in golf in April; then we have five events concluding in May so we will update the website with the scoreboard after those and I expect by then, the top of the leaderboard might have thinned out a bit and we will have a better idea then of who looks like they know more than most about sport around here!

Thanks to all again,

Regards

Pat
