Executive Committee for 2009-2010

Congratulations to Eddie Sullivan on his election as Chairman at the recent AGM. Attached is the new committee and we thank them and wish them well in their endeavours on our behalf - we are very lucky to have such an accomplished linup available to manage our club. Big thanks are due to Glen Troy, John Fanning, Brian Colgan and the outgoing committee for all their work in difficult circumstances over the last few years. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir. We are also delighted to announce that GV Wright has joined our Board of Trustees and we thank him for his families support of St Sylvesters over many years.

Club notes May 4th

The senior team suffered a one point championship defeat to a very good Ballymun team and now join Crokes in the draw for the next round. That draw will be interesting to say the least. The intermediates had a one point victory over Isles. Micháel, who serves a nice pint in the bar, was ice cool when he served up a brilliant winning point. The juniors had a bit more to spare, winning against Liffey Gaels by 9 points with a great team performance.

Under 14 Girls Win Group – But Lose Out in Semi Final of Feile

Congratulations to our Under 14 Girls on winning the Feile Division 1 Group 2 played in Broomfield on Saturday. This was a great achievement by the girls to go unbeaten in the three matches. The performance against Clontarf was particularly noteworthy as they reversed a 7 point deficit at half time to a nine point victory at the end. This earned us a semi-final spot against Kilmacud Crokes over in Ballyboden on Sunday.

Close . . but no cigar in Senior Championship

We lost cos we scored less than the opposition. Well dooh!! We made about the same number of chances but didn't score enough from distance and Kickams got a few telling points in the last 10 minutes that was the difference. Not a bad performance against a fine Ballymun team but, well . . . .

Junior D Championship win - impressive show by Syls

Our fourth team were the first adult football team to take the field in championship this year. The team led by Declan Barnes and Pajo Gallagher made the trip out to Liffey Gaels. 23 players togged out. This is an achievement in itself as the team has numerous injuries at present but very encouraging to see some young players combining well with a few St Sylvester's veterans.

Syls in the news - Wexford star Diarmuid Kinsella

WEXFORD footballer Diarmuid Kinsella is set to join Dublin club St Sylvester's of Malahide. Kinsella missed Wexford's great season last year as he was working in Hong Kong, but he has since returned to inter-county action. And it has emerged that he has applied to transfer from his home club of Castletown, who look unlikely to try to block his move. From the Irish Independent 29th April 09
