Best of luck to Katie

Best of luck to Katie

Best of luck to Katie O'Sullilvan & Dublin U14 squad who play Meath in Leinster Final in Clane @3:30pm Saturday 6th May. The team is managed by Declan Darcy who is also part of Jim Gavin's management team. I hear they play a lovely brand of football, with our Katie spear heading his attach at Number 14 for Dublin.

U13 Girls succumb to Robert Emmets

St Sylvesters v Robert Emmets on 29 Apr 2017 - St Sylvesters travelled to Robert Emmets on a blustery Saturday afternoon. St Sylvesters played with the wind in the first half, which they dominated. Unfortunately, St Sylvesters girls were unable to convert the possession into scores. In this keenly fought first half, St Sylvesters trailled Robert Emmets 0-3 to 1-4

Free-for-all on hurling wall

Free-for-all on hurling wall

Pat Hoyne, Chairman of the Juvenile Section of the Club, is organising a free-for-all hurling session on the ball wall for anyone who would like to come along – all ages, all teams - starting this Saturday evening from 5pm to 6pm (before the Senior Hurling match on Pitch 1). If there appears to be an appetite for it, then he would be proposing to keep doing it every Friday evening going forward (probably from 6.15pm to 7.15pm, to be confirmed). It will be a casual, informal, free style, type session, with a few mini skills competitions for different groups. So if you are at loose end this Saturday evening, or Fridays going forward it might be worth checking out!

Two wins, two losses in Football Championships

Two wins, two losses in Football Championships

The Seniors gave a very impressive first half display against St Annes to progress to round 2 in the Championship. Goals from Jack Hazely and the lively Dylan Connolly gave is a 2-06 to 0-01 lead at the break and we had plenty more chances. We finished 3-14 to 0-06 and I'm sure the lads were happy with the performance. Gary partnering Ross in the middle was an interesting selection and with long balls to Jack at full forward always an option we looked pretty good all round. Lucan in the next round, a good test of Jack Sheedy's killer instincts. The Inters were very disappointed to lose to Thos Davis on Friday. just not converting possession to scores and a pity this young team not getting a chance to go further.

Magnificent win of the Leinster final by the Dublin minor women's team against Kildare today. Final score 6-13 to 2-12. Also to mention the match this coming Wednesday in Broomfield at 7.15 at which both girls will be playing. Thanks Karen

Mixed display in Snr Football loss to Vincents

Mixed display in Snr Football loss to Vincents

AFL1 st Vincents 1-20 St Sylvesters 0-10 Hard game to comment on. The first half had everything that's good in Gaelic Football, played at a fierce pace and we counted ourselves very unlucky to be 0-11 to 0-06 down at the break. Both Glen and Dylan missed wide open goal opportunities at times that would have kept us very much in the hunt while Vincents could do no wrong at the other end of the field, hitting some magnificent points. We dominated possession for quite a while in the second half but didn't get the reward on the score board and Vinnies were again very economical in their shooting. Disappointing result for sure but plenty of good displays from Gavin in particular, Scrappy, Collie, ED, Gary, Dylan, Niall won a lot of ball, Archie when he came in late.

Hurlers let it slip after good comeback

Hurlers let it slip after good comeback

AHL3 Scoil Uí Chonaill 1-11 St Sylvesters 1-08 A poor first half put us a hole losing 1-07 to 0-03 at the break. In fact, all Scoil's scores came in the first 20 minutes, we held them tight for the remainder of the half but poor shooting and decision making did't convert our supremacy into scores. We continued to dominate after the break and slowly pegged them back with points from Sean Graham, Martin, and a nice goa; by Colm Byrne. We got back to level 1-07 a piece but Scoil finished out stronger with a few good points while we missed the couple of chances we made.
