Congrats to Danielle Lawless of Syls who was selected on the Dublin Ladies Minor Football Squad for 2016.
It is very sad to report the untimely passing of Andrea, a young girl and a handy footballer who wore the Syls jersey with pride for many years. (Malahide, Co. Dublin): Jan 3 2016, suddenly. Andrea, will be very sadly missed by her heartbroken parents Maria and Colm, her much loved brother Peter, aunts and uncles, cousins and in particular Anna who was always there for her, extended family and many friends. Rest in Peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam usail.

Syls Minor Girls lost by a single point in Div 3 League Final away to Ballinteer St Johns. Despite fielding a team short of many regulars, these girls showed real courage and determination (and plenty of good attractive football) to claw back from a 9 point deficit midway through the second half, playing against a very strong wind. Syls led by 2 points at half time but a couple of quick goals give Ballinteer the initiative and for a while it looked like they were going to take advantage of the strong wind and cruise to victory.
Malahide Medical Hall have sponsored First Aid kits for all Ladies and Girls Football teams in St. Sylvester's. Aideen Murphy, Proprieter of the Medical Hall, made a formal presentation at the Girls Nursery last Saturday. Picture shows Aideen presenting a kit to Angela Aherne, Ladies Football Secretary and Coordinator of the Girls Nursery.
Players From St Brigids,Fingallians, St Maurs, Skerries Harps & St Sylvesters were in attendance last evening with an evening with Fingal Mayor to celebrate their Leinster Championship & All Ireland Runners up. Syls Niamh Mc Evoy heads to citywest on Saturday in search of a TG4 ladies All Star Award. Congrats also to Ray Boyne who was involved in the back room of many of Dublin's success this year. Men - Senior All Ireland, Div1 League, O'Byrne Cup, Leinster Women - U21 All Ireland , Senior Leinster, All Ireland & Div1 runners up.
Syls and Naomh Marnóg hosted the biggest event in Ladies Football with the Gaelic 4 Mothers catering for 1,600 players on Saturday. Congratulations to all on a great event. What a pity we do not have our own teams playing these past few years. We really need some mentors to get this super initiative going in Malahide again, This must be one of the great initiatives in ladies games and it's great that we provide facilities and support but it would be even better if Syls were playing again. See the report from LadiesGaa and pictures from Peter Hickey.
This year's Ladies Football All Ireland 7's were run off in fine style and very efficiently yet again on Syl's and Naomh Mearnóg's grounds. The weather was very favourable and the players and spectators were full of praise about how well everything was run.
Congratulations to Niamh on achieving her first Ladies Football All Star award nomination, well deserved following her sterling performances in the full forward line, especially her exploits in the All Ireland Final when she gave a display worthy of Player of the Match had Dublin won. Niamh continues the tradition established by Sinead Aherne who got her 4th All Star Award last year but took a year off travelling this year.
Peter Hickey copied me with this lovely memory of the girls exploits in 2012. I thought I saw it in the clubhouse at one time but it disappeared again. Anyway, a great memory and a strong reminder that you can go and do it all again girls, maith sibh.
Congratulations to the Dublin Ladies on a determined display in Croke Park today but unfortunately it was just not enough to dethrone the all conquering Cork. Niamh McEvoy led my example up front, must have been her best ever display for Dublin, Nicole Owens foraged hard for the decisive opening after her introduction, it would have been great to see Nicole get more ball in space to create a greater threat. It was a great honour for St Sylvesters that our players again contributed to the biggest event in Ladies Sport in Europe. Hard luck girls, I felt the transition from defence to attack was just a little too ponderous to threaten the Cork girls.

Caitlin Guidan picked her Leinster U14 runner up medal. The Dublin girls had a very good campaign and finished the year picking up the All Ireland Blitz trophy which was on display at the presentation evening. Danielle Lawless picked her Leinster U16 Leinster Winners medal. Danielle did very well making her debut in a Dublin Jersey this year and made the Number 14 her own.

On a day dominated by an epic Dublin Mayo semi final at Croke Park, Dublin Ladies qualified to play Cork in the All Ireland Final. Niamh McEvoy had a very lively first half and Nicole Owens came in late. Congratulations to all and lets look forward to a big Dublin crowd at the final
The ladies match is now switched to starting time of 2.00 p.m. Just perfect , start in Parnell Park where our club girls are playing, and then saunter up to Croke Park for the Dublin v Mayo replay. The Jackies take on Armagh in the All Ireland semi-final in Parnell Park at 2.00pm. What an achievement for a medium size club to have two players on the county squad. Both started and had fine games in the quarter final victory against Monaghan. Lets support the girls in numbers. No long treck to Birr involved, just a short hop to Donnycarney. Let's make it an evenIng out for Syls and show our true club spirit. U16s free . Students and senior citizens €5 and adults €10.
Congrats to Niamh McEvoy and Nicole Owens both of whom featured in the starting line up for Dublin against Ulster rivals Monaghan in Saturday's quarter final in Clones. Dublin had a strong lead by half time having notched up 1.07 to Monaghan's 0.4.
Congrats to Cliodhna Hamill from our Ladies Minor team who was chosen to represent Dublin in the recent U-17 Inter County blitz. Cliodhna also had the honour of co-captaining the Dublin team. Her team won all of their group games and were narrowly pipped by Carlow in the semi-final
Dublin Ladies take on Monaghan in Clones tomorrow Saturday at 14.15 in the All Ireland Quarter Final. Our best wishes go to Nicole Owens and Niamh McEvoy and the Dublin girls hoping to repeat the success of 2009 in the same venue.
Syls Junior Girls put in a great performance last night in the Championship V Ballyboden Wanders in Ballyboden. While the Malahide girls were very short on numbers and did not win this game it was probably the best game they ever played. Syls playing with the wind ended up 3-7 to 0-5 behind at half time. Ironically despite the scoreline Syls had actually played some good football in the first half.
Congrats to the Dublin Ladies winning their fourth consecutive Leinster over a competitive Westmeath yesterday at Carlow. Niamh McEvoy contributed a goal and many assists and Nicole came off the bench to sore a point.
All Ireland U16 Semi Final Wed 15th of July 2015 McDonagh Park, Nenagh Although the Dublin girls lost, Danielle Lawless scored 1-1 and was awarded a penalty when taken down en-route to goals.
Ladies Senior Division 1 Our ladies put in a great second half against a stronger Na Fianna in Broomfield last evening. Fair play to the junior players for stepping up, especially Jackie Costelloe for her brave goal keeping, Carol Hickey showing the energy of girls half her age, Orla who took a nasty knock, hope you are ok. Niamh Harney worked tirelessly in the middle, Cliodhna Hamill and Lea Harold defended well and everyone on the field worked really hard. Missing our county players to county action and other senior players due to vacation and injury is a heavy load to carry but great credit to the girls for their very spirited display. It's a very young team with a great future and it was great to see support on the line.
Niamh McEvoy gave an exhibition of providing the "link" between the Dublin defense and attack yesterday. Niamh operating from the Number 14 position was the key target for kicked balls into the full forward line, with her quick hands Niamh transferred the ball to her colleagues who made intelligent runs to support.
The Junior Ladies Team had their first win in the League after a great game in Broomfield. 3-9 to 3-8 was final score with a one point win V Ballyboden Wanderers. This was a great time to get the first official win as they are home V Clan Na Gael in the Championship next Wednesday 8 July 2015. We want to thank Des Rainey and some of his U16 Team for helping us out. Eddie Ann & Declan Syls Abu
Best wishes to Caitlin and the Dublin U14 girls in the Leinster Final this Saturday in Clane 3.15pm.
Congrats to Syls' Danielle Lawless and the Dublin U-16 team who defeated near neighbours Meath in the Leinster final last weekend. Danielle has had a fine campaign with the U -16s this year. Dublin have now secured a sixth successive Leinster title at this level, no mean feat for this young squad and their management team.
