John Cox and the Mayo Minors from '82

Gathered at Croke Park on Sunday last for the Mayo V Donegal match was the Mayo minor footballers of 1982. Included in that team and shown in the photograph second from right in the front row is a very young John Cox who represented Mayo that year with great distinction. John is involved with Syls for the last 6 years with this years U13s and has been a great help in other club matters also.

Also the proud holder of a Mayo U 16 hurling championship medal ( obviously a very talented dual player ) . There were two very distinct clubs at that time ( and very much still are ) in Johns home parish . One for football ( Aughamore ) and one for hurling (Tourin - home club to Mayos only hurling All Star - Joe Henry ).

Well done John ."

Our Liam was on the Dublin 1982 Minors John, having learned his football at St Jarlath's of Tuam. Did you ever play against him? The Mayo minors every year always had a strong Jarlath's contingent.
