Mary Ryan and Billy Kelly

Any words of advice for your dancing partner? : Mind your toes!! . . . Mary it could have been a lot worse you could be dancing with Fergus!

Name : Mary Ryan

Born : Dublin

Connection to St Sylvesters : My sons play for the Intermediate and Minor Teams and my daughter has just joined the Under 14 Girls team

Why did you volunteer? : I ask myself that every morning after a training session when I struggle to get my weary body out of the bed. I love dancing and I heard it was great fun – which it is.

How has the training been going? : It’s definitely harder than I thought, I realise now how un-coordinated I am. Exotic locations, GAA Hall, Parish Hall, Kitchens, Yards and Sheds!!!

Describe your experience so far : One word – FUN. I have never laughed so much – everyone is getting on so well and there is a fantastic atmosphere at the training sessions. Great to meet new people whose paths I would probably never crossed on the sidelines

Who is coming along to cheer you on the big night : Hopefully my family and friends and my children (if I haven’t embarrassed them too much!)

What would you say to people who wished they had volunteered : Go for it! It’s been an incredible experience so far

Any words of advice for your dancing partner? : Mind your toes!!

Name : Billy Kelly

Born : Limerick or more affectionately known as STAB City

Connection to St Sylvesters : Played with Syl’s in the 80’s and 90’s and gladly retired the first day that Deccie Barnes arrived in the dressing room

Why did you volunteer? : Because Panner McCarthy wrongly advised me that I would lose weight with all the training

How has the training been going? : Bar having to train in a former abattoir and O’Brien & Sons Landscape premises I think the training facilities provided have been excellent

Describe your experience so far : Frustrating at how slow some of my male colleagues have been at getting their moves right. But I think I have them going in the right direction at this stage.

Who is coming along to cheer you on the big night : Hopefully a good crew coming that might buy me a few sympathy votes.

What would you say to people who wished they had volunteered : If I can do it so can you!

Any words of advice for your dancing partner? : Mary it could have been a lot worse you could be dancing with Fergus!
